'Intuitive handbuilding workshop'

Handbuilding workshop with Robin from Studio Bloei

This is a handbuilding workshop, we will not work on the pottery wheel.

Dates:

- 22nd of February

- 2nd of May

Time: from 14.00 till 16.00

Availability:
4 participants

Language: Dutch and/or English

Location: Workshop room at Studio Bloei. For this workshop I use a room in our house which is renovated and decorated to be my studio and workshop room.

Duration: approximately 2 hours.

What will be included?

- Coffee, tea, water and some snacks.

- Clay

- Pottery tools

- Choice of 2 glazes (white or transparant)

- The finishing of your piece in the studio. This means I'll make sure your piece dries evenly, 2 firings and glazing.

- You can pick up your creation in the studio or I can send the finished mug to you. This will be an extra €6,95.

What will you be learning?

This class is all about touching clay for the first time, or maybe the second or third time. It doesn’t really matter, because you will learn something new anyway! I will explain a lot about pottery; the process, clay and glazes and how to make something out of a ball of clay.

What will you be making?

After I explained a little about pottery you can go your own way and make all the good stuff! This can be a coffee cup, dish, tealight holder, you name it. For this workshop I recommend to do a little research and make a little plan for what you want to make. I will supervise and help you with every step of the way.

The process in pottery is very long, so we can’t do everything. Because of that I will finish your piece in the studio and will glaze it with a glaze of your choice.

We will use a speckled clay body and you can choose a white or transparant glaze.

For who is this workshop?

This workshop is for anyone interested in clay, it doesn’t really matter what your level is. If you are a beginner or more advanced student, everyone is welcome. However I have to say, if you are a more advanced potter, I don’t think I can learn you something new (I am just being honest here). That doesn’t mean your are not welcome! Making something out of nothing is for everyone!

What do I need to bring?

Because we are working with mud basically, I wouldn’t recommend wearing your best dress! You can also bring an apron to protect your cloths and an old kitchen towel to clean your hands.
